Patient
Advocacy Videos
(PAVs) SM
General
PAVs are short videos
created by people that want
to share information about
their medical condition and
treatment outcome with
other people that may have
a similar medical
condition.
All videos are accepted and
displayed in accordance
with the Terms of Service
of
NewMedicalNews.com.
Operation
At this time all videos are
to be sent via email
to:
PAV@NewMedicalNews.com.
Each video will be reviewed
and then if accepted,
assigned into a specific
therapeutic sub category
for viewing.
Guidelines
for Submission
Identification of
therapy
Every FDA approved drug has
a generic name and many
have a brand name. Both are
always shown on the label
of your filled prescription
container. The brand name
is owned by, and identifies
the maker of the drug or
treatment. For legal
purposes your PAV should
only identify the generic
FDA approved name of the
treatment. It would help
some viewers of your PAV if
you wrote the generic name
on a 8 ½ x 11 inches
sheet of paper and
displayed it during your
PAV.
Condition Onset and
Outcome
In your video, describe the
onset of your
condition and the outcome
by answering these general
questions:
What were the first
symptoms you
noticed?
When did you notice them?
How long was it before you
contacted a healthcare
professional?
How long before the
prescribed therapy began
working?
How long before you saw
some improvement?
If true, how long until the
condition was completely
normal?
How long before you decided
the therapy was not
working?
Did you resort to any
Alternative Therapy that
was not prescribed by a
physician?
if true, how long before
this therapy began
working?
If true, how long until the
condition was completely
normal?
What's Your
Advice
This is the most important
part of your video. Tell
viewers what you've learned
from your experience and
how you think it can help
others with a similar
condition.
Visual Identification
and Demonstration
The advantage of the video
is your ability, where
appropriate, to visually
show people your condition.
If possible, it would be
helpful to viewers if you
start and stop your
video to show how, over
time, your condition
changed. Or didn't change.
When
will videos be available
online at
NewMedicalNews.com?
We are just beginning the
process of gathering
videos. We hope to be able
to display them on
NewMedicalNews.com by the
end of 2007.
Thank you for your
participation in this
important and innovative
healthcare program. We will
advise you by email when
your video is online at
NewMedicalNews.com.
